The origin of Hot pot ---a legend of Genghis khan
One of most popular legends of Genghis khan is the following one. One day Genghis khan suddenly longed for mutton of his home on the way to going on a campaign. So he ordered the army unit to start to cook. At this moment a solider reported an urgent condition that the enemy was closing in on them when the water boiling. Genghis khan was preparing to meet an approaching enemy head-on after hearing it, but feeling hungry. Therefore he immediately ordered the military chefs to serve with mutton. And the military chefs didn’t have enough time to boil mutton. What’s to be done? They finally decide to put the big slices of mutton in to the boiling soup in the emergency. Then they served Genghis khan with mutton added some condiments after mutton coloring. Little does one think, Genghis khan continually had more than ten bowls of mutton and took highly prize. Then the troops met the enemy and gained the victory under his command after being full. Therefore Genghis khan rewarded all the soldiers with mutton that was cooked according to the previous method. This method of cooking mutton was maintained and gradually was popular among the people later. Hot pot culture also is being developed in the course of the historical evolvement and the blend of cook feat of every nationality。
